We are proud that our marina has been awarded the Blue Flag accreditation for 2023-2024 season, a truly memorable time for our organization pinpointing the great effort our staff pays attention to this.
The “Blue Flag” is the most recognizable and internationally widespread ecological symbol of quality in the world. It has been awarded since 1987, to beaches and marinas that meet the strict award conditions. A necessary condition for awarding a coast with the “Blue Flag” is that its water quality is “Excellent”. No other quality rating, even “Good”, is accepted by the Program.
In addition, the rest of the total 38 criteria marinas must also be observed, which concern cleanliness, organization, information, safety of bathers and visitors, protection of the natural wealth of the coast and coastline space and environmental awareness.
The Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature has operated the international “Blue Flag” program in Greece since 1992. The “Blue Flag” is a symbol of quality awarded with strict criteria to organized beaches and marinas managed by coastal municipalities, hoteliers and other entities. The voluntary “BLUE FLAG” Program began in the 80s.Today, 52 countries from almost all continents, that is, not only Europe, participate in this voluntary program. The internationally responsible operator of the Program, Fee (Environmental Education Foundation), in collaboration with the Coordinators of its member countries, reforms from time to time the award criteria, constantly making their application more stringent, with the aim of improving the conditions on the coasts and award-winning marinas.
